A Great Read

Click here (Notes on a Napkin) to read about spending 24 hours in a Wal Mart Super Center. It made me laugh out loud. Gee, why didn't I think of it? Sounds totally like something I would have done in college...right after I threw water balloons off the roof of the dorm.

(And, yes, that is three posts in one day. You can tell that I'm very busy at work today.)

Ten Things I Love This Week

1. American Idol - Those auditions are hilarious!!!
2. OSU Basketball - Did you see the Cowboys beat OU last night?
3. Grey's Anatomy Season 2 on DVD - only a few episodes left to watch
4. US Magazine - I wish I didn't love this magazine. I try to resist buying it. Somehow I always end up with a copy to read. This week our legal assistant gave me the latest issue.
5. 6-8 year olds learning to play basketball. The first game was Saturday with a whopping score of 6-6.
6. Sunshine - Yes, we finally have sunshine!
7. Mac Journal Software - I can't say enough about this program. If you like to write and you have a Mac, get it!
8. iTunes - Addictive...I can get on the iTunes Store for hours listening to music and downloading songs.
9. Falling Awake by Gary Jules (song)- Just listen to it, you'll love it, too! You can hear a small snippet at the itunes store.
10. Fiji Water

Update: You can hear Gary Jules song here.

An Interesting Day

I went to a motorcycle show yesterday. I’ve never seen so much leather in my life...both on people and for sale. I felt like I was the only one there without leather on. It was definitely an interesting crowd. I thought it would be testosterone overload, but there were actually quite a few women there. Really the show wasn’t all that great. Some bikes and some kind of a swap meet with parts that mean absolutely nothing to me. We did take the boys to see the motorcycle riders in the “Globe of Death.” You know the caged sphere where they ride the motorcycles around inside. We got to stand right by the globe and it was something to see. I don’t know how they ride one bike in the thing, much less two. Then the lady who was wearing hardly any clothes on top got in the globe and stood there while they rode around her. I’ve never quite understood why the women at car shows and motorcycle shows have to be clothed in next to nothing. Well, I guess I get the appeal for men, but it doesn’t do a thing for me. hehe! Thankfully, my boys were so interested in the motorcycles that they didn’t even notice the scantily clad woman.

Update

I went back to work yesterday. Yes!! They have also cancelled school again today so the boys are going to grandma's again. Thank goodness for grandparents! The side roads are horrible, but the main roads are fine. I guess that's why they keep cancelling school. There's no way a bus could get around these neighborhoods. Anyhoo, I'm just glad I "have" to go to work. ;)

Unbelievable!

They have already canceled school tomorrow. I can't believe it. I've got to get out of this house! Thank goodness I have bunco tonight. It is our neighborhood bunco group so I'm just going to walk down the street. I am going to work tomorrow around 10. My mother-in-law will watch the boys if I take them to her, so that's the plan. You don't even want to know what I've done today....absolutely nothing!

Still Iced

I know you are anxiously awaiting to see what I've done today. Here it is so far:
1. Slept late.
2. Cleaned up my office (a major undertaking!)
3. Wrote thank you notes
4. Cut out stuff for Cole's teacher
5. Watched Ellen
6. Watched Ugly Betty

I'm beginning to get a bit antsy around here. I think I have cabin fever. Actually if I was here by myself, things would be fine. Two boys that fight/argue all the time are wearing me out. And, I just saw it run across the top of the tv screen that our school district is closed again tomorrow. AHH!!

A "Productive" Day

1. Ate a frito chili pie for breakfast. (I'm still paying for it!)
2. Watched High Maintenance 90210 and anything else I could find on E.
3. Played Sorry.
4. Took a 2 hour nap.
5. Finished reading Metro Girl by Janet Evanovich.
6. Played Super Mario Strikers on Game Cube. (Very fun, by the way. Younger son just got the game.)

Iced -What I've Been Doing

1. Finished watching Season 1 of Grey's Anatomy. Meant to pick up Season 2 while out sliding around yesterday and forgot. Bummer!
2. Cleaned out younger son's room. I think he's already destroyed it again.
3. Ate lots of chili and rotel.
4. Played the Sorry game.
Hmmm...I wonder what excitement awaits me today!

Ice Ice Baby Part 2

Well, it really did ice and it is nasty outside! We are expecting more freezing rain tonight. Most of the churches have already cancelled services tomorrow, which is very unusual. I'm planning to stay in the rest of the weekend. I did get out for awhile today. Younger son had a birthday party at the local bowling alley so we ran him over there and then went to the mall for a bit. There were more people out and about than I expected. I came home and started cleaning out younger son's room. What a disaster area!! I just cleaned the darn thing out in November, too. I don't know where all the stuff comes from. I cleaned out all the drawers, the closet and his room in general. It looks pretty good if I do say so myself. Then younger son and I played a couple of games of Sorry. I haven't played that game in years. It was a blast!

Ice Ice Baby

Here in Oklahoma, people prepare for bad weather early. I mean it gets crazy! People were buying every generator they could find at Home Depot yesterday just in case the ice storm causes us to lose power. My husband went to the store last night and had to wait 30 minutes to check out. He said there were 10 gallons of milk left. That's it! 10 gallons period. I've always made fun of people for getting prepared. Heck, half the time the weather predictions are wrong. Apparently they hit it right on the nose this time. The freezing rain has already started and the roads are getting bad. I'm sitting at work typing this and we're all getting ready to leave for the day and it's only 11 a.m. I'm going to go get the kids from school/daycare and head for home. I'm looking forward to a nice, relaxing weekend at home. I'll probably be able to post on Monday that younger son and I have defeated Lego Star Wars II. To all you other Okies..stay warm!

Slump's Over

I have been in a reading slump the past few months. I haven't read much of anything. Oh, I've started plenty of books, but just haven't been interested. Even when I'm not reading novels, I do read quite a bit. I read the newspaper everday and devour lots of magazines. (Very important magazines like US, People, Entertainment Weekly, Nintendo Power, Mac World, Oprah) But, I just haven't been able to find a novel I want to read. I went to Barnes Nobel the other day and browsed looking for something to catch my attention. I found it...Map of Bones by James Rollins. I know it sounds gross, but it really isnt' that bad. It is a spy thriller and I love spy thrillers! It is the story of a special team who are looking for the Magi's bones. Yes, you read that right. The Magi, otherwise known as The Wisemen. It also deals with finding and protecting other relics of the Catholic Church. I don't want to give too much away, but this book has it all. Spies and traitors and action and travelling all over the world. It is a page-turner. I finished it in two days. Yes! The slump is over!! I picked up Metro Girl by Janet Evanovich at Target yesterday and found out that her new Stephanie Plum novel is being released on Tuesday. WooHoo! Also, my friend picked up the new Nelson DeMille and is going to loan it to me after she finishes it. If you know any other good books, leave a comment.
(P.S. Did I ever mention that I read all 12 Stephanie Plum books over the summer? They are hilarious!! The books are by Janet Evanovich and Stephanie Plum is the main character. She is a bounty hunter, but not like any you've ever seen. If you want to get started, the first one is One for the Money. You'll be howling with laughter!)

Family and Friends (I know you're reading this, Pam!)

OSU!

Taken outside Gallagher Iba Arena after the OSU basketball game.

Burning Question

The burning question in my mind today is why do Dollar Tree and Dollar General always smell weird? What is that distinctive smell these stores have?! Phew!
