Yes!

You can tell I'm really busy today. ;) If I had some scotch tape, I'd wrap presents. Apparently, two small children absconded with the tape and used all of it. So, I'm sitting here reading blogs and taking silly quizzes.

Way to go! You know not to trust the MS Grammar Check and you know "no" from "know." Now, go forth and spread the good word (or at least, the proper use of apostrophes).

Snow Update

School was called off late last night due to all the sleet that blew in. It is nasty. Now the snow has started and it is beautiful! Younger son was up at 5:45 a.m. fully dressed. He had his coat, hat and gloves on. We told him it would be awhile until he can go outside. The snow is really piling up, at least for Oklahoma. We always get some snow, but not much. They are predicting 5-10 inches. Woohoo!

Crossing our Fingers for Snow!

Typical Oklahoma weather...yesterday it was 75 and today it is 32 or below. Brrr! They are predicting snow and my boys are so excited. They have already decided that school is going to be called off and they are going to stay home and play in the snow all day. Younger son is sleeping fully clothed (except for shoes) so he can get up early and check for snow. The kid has already been up twice telling me he can't sleep and he just went to bed 5 minutes ago. I think I hear sleet hitting my office window so maybe we'll get lucky!

Tony the yodeling Shetland pony will not be here today because he's a little hoarse.

Turn Down the Noise!

We are trying to work at the office while listening to a jackhammer in the hallway and an alarm going off. Apparently, all the jackhammering set off some sort of alarm. AHHH!!! I can't think straight. I'm taking an early lunch!

NOTICE

I refuse to listen to Christmas Music until after Thanksgiving.
(unless it is the Heatmiser song from The Year Without a Santa Claus. I admit I listened to every word of it today and really enjoyed it.)
Click here to hear the song.

Conversations with a 7-Year Old

On the 15-minute drive home from church tonight, my 7-year old talked nonstop. Here are the topics he covered:
death

dying
our area code
funerals
cremation
he is the pastor's favorite child
Why didn't I order him a school ID card? Everyone else has one.
Was there a note about the id card?
book bandits in the library
how old is great grandma
does everyone have to die
does God tell us when to die

I'm exhausted!!!

When is a Sandwich not a Sandwich?

When it's a burrito, of course. I cannot stop laughing about this news story where Panera Bread tried to stop a Mexican restaurant from moving in near it. Here's a blurb from the news story:

WORCESTER, Mass. - Is a burrito a sandwich? The Panera Bread Co. bakery-and-cafe chain says yes. But a judge said no, ruling against Panera in its bid to prevent a Mexican restaurant from moving into the same shopping mall.

Panera has a clause in its lease that prevents the White City Shopping Center in Shrewsbury from renting to another sandwich shop. Panera tried to invoke that clause to stop the opening of an Qdoba Mexican Grill.

The best part of the story:
The difference, the judge ruled, comes down to two slices of bread versus one tortilla.

LOL!! In my entire life, I never thought a burrito was a sandwich. That's quite a stretch, Panera! (Hat tip abovethelaw)

Long Overdue Update

I went shopping at the mall today. Big mistake! It looked like Christmas Rush already and it isn't even Thanksgiving. AHHH!! I vow not to enter another mall until way after Christmas.

Happy Birthday to The Happy Homemaker!

I went to a surprise 40th birthday party for a friend last night and danced the night away. They had a great band playing 70's and 80's music. Pure fun! However, that may be the reason my feet are killing me today.

Nelson DeMille's newest book (Wildfire) is beckoning me. I got it at the library the other day and haven't had a chance to start it yet. I can hardly wait! There's nothing like cozying up with a good read.

Ugh...just tried to publish this post and it won't publish. My long awaited blog entry will have to wait a while longer.
